A collaborative exhibition featuring Stem Edition 1 fabrics reinterpreted by 15 artists and designers.
Stem has two key guiding principles: waste reduction and creative collaboration. These
principles have been further explored through an exhibition: Edition 1, Take 2. The
exhibition presents Stem Edition 1 fabrics reinterpreted by 15 artists and designers,
and is the first of an ongoing series of projects with the aim of investigating the endless
opportunities of the Stem technique.
A group of young, international artists and designers from across the art, clothing,
and interior industries were invited to participate in the project, with the reuse of
Stem Edition 1 fabrics as the red thread. Each participant has approached the brief
and reimagined the original textile using their own creative practice, visual language,
contexts and techniques, resulting in a collection of 13 very different ways of working
with the material, and 17 bespoke pieces. Stem’s innovative technique pushes
boundaries within standard production, and these new pieces push these boundaries
even further; questioning the original purpose of the fabric and challenging the culture of
disposability and newness within our society.
Edition 1, Take 2 features works from Anna Clarisse Holck Wæhrens (DK) and Marie Sloth
Rousing (DK), Mads Hilbert (DK), Nicklas Skovgaard (DK), Tiscar Espadas (ES), Mathilde
